Aspen Custom Trailers Inc. donates $10,700 to Canadian Red Cross for tsunami relief in Asia.
Aspen donates $10,700 to Canadian Red Cross - January 6, 2005 -- Nisku, AB -- Everyone in the world is affected by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated coastal parts of Asia on December 26th. A relief effort as unprecedented as the disaster itself launched worldwide in the days following. But still an urgent need for financial donations to benefit this area is required, and today Aspen Custom Trailers donated $10,700 to the Canadian Red Cross Asia Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.

“Aspen’s donation represents $100 for each of our 107 employees” Aspen's president Murray Johnston announced today. “There is so little we can do from such a distance to help the people and communities affected, but by making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross my hope is that our employees will feel we are making a meaningful contribution.” Every dollar donated counts, and there are many official aid agencies set up to accept your donations in Canada. Included with this bulletin is further information about the Canadian Red Cross, the agency Aspen chose to donate to.

BC Aspen and friends win honourable mention for 'Most Creative Tree' at this year’s Festival of Trees.
BC Hydro Power Pioneers, Something Fishy and Aspen Custom Trailers came together yesterday to participate in the 2004 Festival of Trees at the Four Seasons Hotel to benefit BC's Children's Hospital Foundation. The tree won honourable mention in the 'Most Creative Tree' category for its 'race car driven by fish' theme. 55 corporate sponsors from throughout BC raised over $100,000 at the 18th Annual Festival of Trees, adding to the $1.5 million total the event has raised over the years. At the centre of this Christmas story is a little girl named Chloe; born with a heart disorder almost 7 years ago she underwent lifesaving cardiovascular surgery at BC's Children's Hospital. Her mom and dad, Britta and Lawrence, have been forever indebted to the hospital and at every turn have encouraged friends and family to donate to this wonderful cause.

Aspen race car driver, Tony Morris Jr. is Britta's cousin, so when Aspen was looking for a charity to contribute to the choice was obvious… BC's Children's Hospital Foundation. But that still doesn't explain how BC Hydro, Something Fishy and Aspen Custom Trailers are connected. The Power Pioneers, an association of retired BC Hydro employees, raises money and donates their time to the maintenance of fish tanks installed at BC’s Children's Hospital. Something Fishy supplies the fish and fish tanks, and helps the Power Pioneers keep the tanks up and running for the kids to enjoy. The $6,000 raised at this year’s 'Speed the Party', sponsored by Aspen Custom Trailers, was donated directly towards the fish tank program.

Regardless of any of this, a group of 12 people from the three organizations donated their time and energy yesterday to decorate one of the 55 trees featured at the Four Seasons Hotel. Not to worry, we included this story so everyone would understand the connection between these companies. We encourage everyone to get to the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver between now and January 3rd to see all the wonderful trees and cast a vote. The 'People's Choice' Award is still up for grabs and we'd like to think the 'Power Pioneer's' tree stands a pretty good chance!
