We're Walking to Cure Juvenile (Type 1) Diabetes
As a corporate sponsor of the Walk to Cure Diabetes Aspen Custom Trailers has already made a $10,000 donation to the JDRF, $5,000 in BC and $5,000 in Alberta. But we’re not stopping there, our goal is to get our employees, customers, colleagues, friends and family, including kids of all ages, to walk 5KM and raise another $5,000!
Joining our team is FREE, all we ask is you try your best to get $20 in pledges or make a donation yourself. To thank you for your efforts, Aspen will give all walkers an Aspen Team shirt to wear on walk day.
How do I join?
It’s simple... All you have to do is email sales@aspentrailer.com or call 604.247.2540. We’ll send you all the information you need to join the Aspen team. Deadline for joining is Friday, May 26th for the BC walk and Friday June, 2nd for the Alberta walk..
Why are we walking?
For the first time in human history a cure for a chronic disease is within reach. To raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; JDRF gives more money to diabetes research than any other not-for-profit, non-governmental agency in Canada and throughout the world. Canada has a rich history of achievements in diabetes research and management and is also home of some of the more brilliant researches in the world. In 2004 alone, JDRF has awarded $10.4 million to research projects in Canada.

What is Juvenile (Type 1) Diabetes?
Juvenile (Type 1) diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disease that strikes infants, children, teens and young adults in the prime of their life without warning and leaves them insulin dependent for life. Insulin is NOT a cure and Juvenile (Type 1) diabetes is not preventable.
Juvenile (Type 1) diabetes is not brought on due to lifestyle choices such as poor diet and lack of exercise. Until a cure is found, a person with juvenile (Type 1) diabetes must take four to six insulin injections a day. Over 200,000 Canadians are afflicted with juvenile (Type 1) diabetes – many of them children.
Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure and lower limb amputations and a leading cause of adult blindness, nerve damage and heart disease. It is the underlying cause of 50% of all heart attacks and 75% of those who suffer strokes have diabetes.
